CINCINNATI - As the Tri-State prepares for temperatures into the triple digits over the next few days, parents and drivers should be aware of ways not to forget your child in the car during these dangerous conditions.

The blog www.mommywords.com compiled a list of ways to remember your child in the backseat.

Here's a few tips:

Set an alert on your computer or your phone to go off every few minutes around the times you usually go to work.

Place a sticker on your car, in a visible place, that you know will remind you of your child.

Place a large stuffed animal in the car seat when it is unoccupied. When you put your child in, put the animal in the front seat. Then when you leave make it a habit to get your child out and replace the animal in the back.

Put things you need for the activity, like a purse or bag, in the backseat with the child.

Leave the diaper bag or kid supplies in the front seat, as another visual reminder of the child in the car.

Always be in contact with your childcare provider. Let them know when you plan to drop a child off every day, and ask them to contact you if they haven't seen the child by that time.

Finally, get an alarm for your car seat.  One choice is the Baby Alert Child Minder System . This is a smart clip and key ring passive alarm unit. The alarm sounds when the smart clip is activated and you walk more than 15 feet away from the child in the child safety seat.
