84-year-old Kentucky man charged in double shooting

CLARKSON, Ky. (AP) -- Kentucky State Police say they are investigating after a shooting in central Kentucky left a woman dead and a man injured.

Police said in a statement Friday that 84-year-old Alva Gussler of Clarkson has been charged with murder and assault in connection with the shooting that killed a woman who lived in his home and injured his son.

Police say Gussler and 59-year-old Laura L. Ford got into an argument on Thursday night and at some point Gussler produced a firearm and shot her in the chest. Police say Gussler's son, 48-year-old Michael Gussler, suffered a gunshot wound to the arm, but is expected to recover.

Alva Gussler is being held at the Grayson County Detention Center, which did not have information on whether he had an attorney.
