For children, news of the tragic shootings at a movie theater in Colorado may cause fears and raise questions that parents and caregivers should be ready to address.

Connie Freking, youth services director at the Brighton Center in Newport, Ky., told 9 News that first and foremost those who care for children should be alert and sensitive to children who may be disturbed by what they see in news reports or concerned about their safety. Don't ignore or minimize the fears children might have.
