In a letter to Santa that has gone viral on Facebook, a young boy asks St. Nick to send some of his presents to heaven for the children killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre.

A boy named Kody begins his letter with "Dear Santa," and asks if he can use his magic to "take a few of my presents to heaven for the kids who got shot at their school."

The letter goes on to say, "I want them to have a Merry Christmas too."

Kody signs his name with love and below writes, "Santa, please read this letter."

The picture of the letter has been liked by more than 61,000 people and shared 21,800+ times.

Although it isn't known how old the boy is who wrote the letter or where he lives, his letter is tugging at hearts and filling eyes with tears around the world.

Police say 20-year-old Newtown, Conn. resident Adam Lanza killed his mother in her bed before his Dec. 14 school rampage that killed 20 children and 6 other adults. A motive still isn't known.

Meanwhile, those who live in Newtown prepared on Monday to observe Christmas. Tiny, empty red stockings sewn with the victims' names hung from trees in the neighborhood where the kids and staff were shot in Sandy Hook Elementary School.
