LEXINGTON, Ky. - A former Richmond, Ky. police officer was sentenced to multiple years in prison for violating federal child exploitation laws.
James Rogers, 37, of Madison County was sentenced to nine years in prison after pleading guilty to one count of receipt of child pornography. Rogers will be forced to register as a sex offender and will serve supervised release for the rest of his life once he’s released from prison.
Rogers was arrested as the result of an undercover investigation on Nov. 19, 2011. Investigators with the Kentucky Cybercrimes Unit found more than 26,000 child pornographic images on computers located inside Rogers’ Richmond, Ky. home.
Since its creation in June 2008 by Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway, the Cybercrimes Unit has conducted nearly 300 child pornography investigations and seized approximately 350,000 child pornographic images and videos from the Internet.
