CINCINNATI - Singers from around the world are in Cincinnati for the World Choir Games. Thousands of tourists took to the streets Wednesday to catch some of the city's cultural offerings. Many like China's Candy Xu tried to understand the "Big Pig Gig."
"The local culture is so special," said Xu.
Many of the visitors stopped to have their picture taken while posing with various statues around the city. A woman from Russia could not find the English words to express herself.
"I have never seen a pig which is, um, I mean, it's something strange," said the visiting woman.
The Big Pig Gig is a resurrected project from a decade ago where local artists decorate fiberglass pigs with art that symbolizes or expresses characteristics of the city. This time 100 statues were sent out across the area.
There were flying pigs, suspension pigs, well dressed pigs, almost any type of pig you could imagine. A Cincinnati cop said that a statue decorated as a policeman would be in bad taste.
