Northern Kentucky driver identified in crash with dump truck

VERONA, Ky. - Authorities in Boone County have identified the driver who was ejected from his vehicle during a crash involving a dump truck on Monday afternoon.

Jerry Alexander, 22, of Warsaw, Ky., was traveling north at approximately 3:25 p.m. in the 15000 block of U.S. 42 in a 2008 Toyota Yaris when he went left-of-center and sideswiped a Mack dump truck traveling south, according to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office.

Alexander was ejected from his vehicle near the intersection with South Fork Church Road and flown to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the dump truck, Michael Utz, of Burlington, Ky., was not injured in the crash.

The Boone County Sheriff's Office Accident Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate the crash.
