COLD SPRING, Ky. - Campbell Lodge Boys Home held a public ceremony on Thursday to show off the completion of the equine center.

It is the only children’s home in the Northern Kentucky area that offers equine-assisted services for all residents.

The use of horses in treatment is an alternative to traditional talk therapy, according to Executive Director Barry Jones.

Jones said boys from the ages of 10 to 18 enjoy the benefits of therapeutic, vocational and riding program at the Equine Center throughout the year regardless of the weather.

"When they leave, we definitely want them to work on the treatment goals which will allow them to go back into their homes and be able to stay there and not come back into the system and we also have a vocational program which will allow them to go and get a job when they leave,” said Barry Jones, Executive Director of Campbell Lodge Boys’ Home.

In the future, the home hopes to open up the equine therapy center to the community for retreats and outpatient therapy.
