Local soldier runs to raise money for fallen soldiers' families

COLD SPRING, Ky. - A local soldier is running more than 1,000 miles, helping to raise money for the families of two local soldiers killed in combat.
Sgt. Zachary Rawlings of Cold Spring, Ky. is raising money to send the Fort Thomas and Bellevue families on a vacation.
He started running in Afghanistan while on a tour of duty, using a treadmill for safety reasons.
He's on leave for two weeks now, running in memory of the soldiers for the first time on U.S. soil.
"I had some free time in Afghanistan, and I wanted to put the time to good use and do something that would be beneficial to not only myself, but the people back in the community as well," Sgt. Zachary Rawlings said. "So I started 'Running For Our Heroes.'"
