COVINGTON, Ky. - The weather outside may feel like late summer, but this weekend the holidays are getting kicked off in the Tri-State with a popular tradition in Northern Kentucky.

It's that time of year for the 19th Annual Holiday Toy Trains display in Devou Park at the Behringer-Crawford Museum.

With over 250 feet of track, it's the largest interactive display in Northern Kentucky. There are more than 25 buttons you can push to make the scenes come alive.

Kids of all ages will enjoy the Lionel, Marx and Plasticville trains. There is even Thomas the Train.

In case you are wondering if you're already behind for the start of the holidays, you're not. The BCM exhibit is actually opening a week earlier this year.

Sarah Siegrist, the Assistant Director of the Behringer-Crawford Museum said they are doing this to help families out during the holidays. They''ve had families who tell them they just don't have enough time and feel rushed trying to find time to enjoy the holidays.

Visitors can also enjoy the museum's permanent Faragher Train which is set back in the 1940's era. That display is on the main floor and its most unique feature is a pair of pop-up Lexan bubbles that allow you to get a view from inside the display.

Visitors crawl through a tunnel to get into the middle of the exhibit and then pop-up inside the viewing bubble.  For smaller children, there is a second bubble with steps leading up to it where they can also view the exhibit from the inside.

The museum's holiday train display will be open to the general public on Saturday, November 13 at 10 a.m. The exhibit will run through January 16, 2011. The Behringer-Crawford Museum is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m.

The BCM will be open on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and Monday, December 27. It is closed on all other Mondays, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

Admission is $7 for adults, $6 for seniors 60+ and $4 for Children (3-17). Under 3 is FREE. During December one grandchild is admitted FREE with each paying grandparent. Groups with 12 or more are $4 per person.

The museum is located at 1600 Montague Road in Devou Park in Covington.  There are signs throughout Devou Park to direct you to the trains.

There will also be  Polar Express Readings where your child can come in dressed in their PJ's.  They will get to listen to a story while enjoying hot chocolate and cookies and a visit from Santa. Polar Express Readings will be on Sunday, December 5, 12 and 19 at 2 p.m.

There is limited seating and reservations must be made in advance by calling (859) 491-4003. No additional cost is required besides museum admission.
