CINCINNATI - A Tri-State police department is now using social networking to help fight crime.
Starting Tuesday Erlanger police will be using Facebook to get the community's help identifying suspects. They will use Facebook posts to ask for information to help solve open cases in the Erlanger Criminal Investigations Division. Detectives assigned to the CID will regularly make postings asking for assistance in solving cases.
The page will also have information about community events, classes and other out reach programs from Erlanger police.
The Erlanger Police Department hopes to attract interest from beyond its residential community as criminals cross jurisdictional boundaries and might be known to citizens outside the city of Erlanger. You can click here to view the page and become a friend of the Erlanger Police Department on Facebook or go to www.facebook.com/pages/Erlanger-Police-Department/241093662612528 .
The Erlanger Police Department has also released a feedback form that can be utilized by citizens who have received service from either the Erlanger Police Department or the Erlanger Public Safety Communications Center.
The form will be utilized to improve service and recognize department members who have provided quality service in both the police department and the 911 center. Citizens can locate the form on the City of Erlanger website or visiting www.ci.erlanger.ky.us/ .
There's also a new public crime mapping service, produced by the Erlanger Police Department in conjunction with Blair Analytics. A free service to both the Erlanger Police Department and the community, Blair's Raids Online is supplied with data directly from the Erlanger Communications Center computer aided dispatch system every hour.
Citizens can see crimes plotted by location and can filter by date/time, type and other factors. Citizens can access the site directly from the City of Erlanger website.
