COVINGTON, Ky. - Comair's final flight landed at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport Friday night after 35 years of service.
Delta is closing the carrier, which means 1,600 people are losing their jobs.
For 29 years, David Wahn worked on Comair jets. On Friday, he was out to get a few photos of the last one.
“One hundred seventy-eight airplanes at one time... and now Comair is down to one airplane as of tomorrow," he said.
It was flight 3025 out of Houston. Several Comair employees and their families watched the plane land. Carl Caudill's wife worked at Comair for 10 years.
“It’s emotional for all of us... I know she loves her job,” said Caudill.
Comair jets have landed at CVG thousands of times since it opened in 1977.
“I never thought I'd do anything for longer than I worked at Comair except breathe of course. It's been a ride,” said Wahn.
A ride that these employees won't soon forget.
