Covington woman dies after Boone Co. crash

FLORENCE, Ky. - Authorities are investigating a fatal crash that occurred in Boone County Sunday.

The crash happened on Dixie Highway at the intersection of White Pine Circle near Florence just after 3 p.m.

Police say 18-year-old Samuel Prather of Dry Ridge was traveling northbound on US-25 in a 1991 Honda Prelude when he collided head on with 30-year-old James Donaldson who was headed southbound in a Nissan two-door vehicle.

An unidentified 60-year-old Covington, Ky., woman in Donaldson's car died from injuries she sustained in the crash while she was at the scene.

Prather and Donaldson were transported to Saint Elizabeth Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A portion of Dixie Highway was shut down, however, the roadway is back open.
