FLORENCE, Ky. - Fire crews in Florence managed to extinguish a blaze without injury to emergency personnel or residents Thursday morning.
Crews responded to the home at approximately 6:20 a.m. in the 7000 block of Manderlay Drive to find a fully involved fire emerging from the back and attic area, Florence fire officials said. Firefighters initially entered the home, but dangerous conditions prompted crews to attack the fire defensively or from the outside only.
The fire was extinguished within 20 minutes of arrival and crews remained on the scene for approximately two hours extinguishing hot spots, officials said. Two people inside the home at the time of the fire evacuated without injury.
After a preliminary investigation, crews believe the fire started outside and spread to the deck. Crews have not released a damage estimate but said “damage to the home was significant.”
Crews from Elsmere and Erlanger fire departments assisted Florence with the fire.
