If you're looking for a new pet this holiday season, this weekend is the perfect time.
The Gallatin County Animal Shelter is offering a special "name your own price" Christmas discount. This means anyone interesting in adopting a dog or cat will be able to name their own adoption fee price, with a $10 minimum.
Volunteers at the shelter hope every pet can find a good home this holiday season.
"We have, currently have 28 dogs and, which is a lot for our shelter. We're a very small shelter," says Robin Costello of the Friends of Gallatin Shelter, a non-profit organization that runs the shelter. "And with being a rural shelter, we don't get the traffic that Boone County and Kenton County and those get."
The shelter will have extended hours Friday.. Instead of closing at 5 p.m., the shelter will close at 7 p.m.
It will also be open on Christmas Eve until 4 p.m.
You can also contact the Gallatin County Animal Shelter at 859-643-DOGS (3647).
