HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - A former Highland Heights police chief was arrested Friday night.

Police say Carl Mullen was arrested by U.S. Marshals and booked at the Boone County Jail.

The case is pending and authorities have not released the charges against Mullen.

In February Highland Heights mayor Gregory Meyers asked the FBI to investigate an accounting discrepancy in the budget of the Highland Heights-Southgate Police Authority.

The discrepancy was discovered while Meyers was reviewing city financial records.

No other information was released at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.
