HEBRON, Ky. - A stretch of I-275 in Northern Kentucky is open to traffic Friday morning after multiple accidents caused by icy conditions closed it for nearly five hours Thursday night.
The bridge across the Ohio River at the Kentucky-Indiana border was closed for nearly five hours because of accidents caused by Thursday evening's snowfall. The roadway was shut down from Hebron, Ky,. to Greendale, Ind.
The roadway gradually reopened just after 1 a.m. Friday morning.
Mike Fronimos with Boone County Emergency Management issued an alert at 8:54 p.m. stating I-275 near Hebron at mile marker 11 was closed in both directions. Multiple accidents, snowfall and ice were cited as the reasons for the closure.
Fronimos also said a snow-related vehicle accident occurred in Florence on southbound I-75 near the mile maker 178.5. He reported that two people were injured.
Details relating to the injuries have not been released at this time.
