NEWPORT, Ky. - Cincinnati police are investigating a serious crash early Thursday morning after a man lost control of his motorcycle on the Taylor-Southgate bridge.

Witnesses tell police the man was driving from Newport into Cincinnati just before midnight Wednesday when the crash happened at about 2 a.m.

Police estimate the man was going 120 mph on the bridge when he lost control halfway across the bridge. That's when witnesses say the man dropped his motorcycle, and he and the bike continued to slide until the man slammed into a concrete barrier on the Cincinnati side of the bridge.

Police shut down the intersection of Broadway Street and East Pete Rose Way for several hours to investigate the crash.

Emergency crews transported the man, whose name has not yet been released, to an area hospital where he is being treated. Officials have not released information about his condition.
