NEWPORT, Ky. - What’s become a tri-state tradition will once again open its doors this fall. The USS Nightmare haunted steamboat officially opens its doors Friday.

In 2011, Hauntworld named USS Nightmare as one of the nation's Top 13 Scariest Locations for Haunted Houses.

The USS Nightmare is docked at Newport Landing in front of Newport on the Levee. After opening weekend, the show is open Wednesday through Sunday beginning Sept. 21 through Nov. 3. Show hours are 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. with Friday and Saturday nights remaining open until 1 a.m.

General admission tickets are $16 per person with RIP express tickets available for $20. The kid-friendly lights-on matinee is Sunday, Oct. 21 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. for $6. For those who want something a little darker and more intense, the captain unleashes his ghastly crew for the in-your-face unrated Captain's eXtreme Show on Saturday, Oct. 27 from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. for $20 (ages 18 and over only.)

Tickets are available for purchase at the USS Nightmare ticket window or with advance online purchase. Click here for special online only opportunities including special family four-packs, Wednesday night six-packs, group discounts and private party rentals of the Mess Hall (an onboard party room for 20 to 30 guests ideal for seasonal events).
