WALTON, Ky. - A Northern Kentucky community was hoping a coin flip could resolve a tie in their election, but it only led to further complication.
A coin toss on Tuesday morning was to decide who would take the last seat on the six-member Walton City Council after Robert McDonald and Olivia Ballou tied for sixth place. Olivia Ballou won the coin flip, but says she won't take the seat because she is moving out of the city.
It is not yet clear if McDonald will get the seat. Formal action about the seat will be decided at the Dec. 10 council meeting.
Both McDonald and Ballou received 669 votes during the Nov. 6 election.
