CINCINNATI - Electronics company LG has gone to great lengths to show that their monitors have great clarity and color — including a prank that made people feel as if they were going to fall from an elevator and plummet to their death.

In a new ad campaign that has garnered more than 600,000 YouTube views, LG installed their IPS monitors in a three-by-three grid on the floor of an elevator. An optical illusion made it look as if the floor’s panels were falling out, giving riders a terrifying view of a fake elevator shaft below their feet.

LG says their IPS monitors have “life-like picture quality without color distortion,” which can be viewed from any angle, according to the company’s website . The YouTube clip, aptly named “So Real it’s scary,” allowed the prank’s victims to experience those claims firsthand.

LG did not disclose the location of the elevator used in the clip, but it was posted to the YouTube channel of LG’s United Kingdom branch.
