LEXINGTON, Ky. - A University of Kentucky hockey player has been hospitalized after his SUV struck a city bus, causing what police describe as multiple injuries to the bus passengers.
LexTran general manager Rocky Burke told The Lexington Herald-Leader that a 2007 Nissan XTerra driven by 22-year-old Taylor Vit of Villanova, Pa., struck the bus just before 5 p.m. Sunday. Vit is listed as a senior forward on the Wildcats hockey team.
Burke and Lexington police say at least seven of the 15 to 17 bus passengers were taken to area hospitals with minor injuries. Vit was listed in critical condition Sunday night. His condition was not immediately available Monday morning.
Police say Vit was not wearing a seat belt. The passenger in his vehicle wasn't hurt.
