CINCINNATI - If you text while you drive in Cincinnati, be prepared to pay a $100 fine.
Cincinnati City Council passed the texting ban by a measure of 8-1 on Thursday.
Twenty eight states including Kentucky have already banned texting while driving.
Police officers will now be able to pull you over and issue a $100 fine.
Councilmembers have said they've seen enough evidence that texting impairs drivers.
Talking on your cell phone while you drive is still permitted. Drivers can also continue to put addresses into GPS devices if they are stopped or out of the flow of traffic.
The ban will not take effect for at least 30 days.
