ANDERSON TWP, Oh. - The man who is accused of striking and dragging a corrections officer after leaving a Riverbend concert is free on bail.

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Department says Randy Damron was leaving the concert Thursday night when he hit and injured a corrections officer.

Officials say Officer Darin Bernard, who was working with the department's traffic unit, flagged down the Chevy Cavalier driven by Randy Damron on suspicion of drunk driving. That's when police say Damron didn't stop, and hit Bernard.

In order to avoid being pulled underneath the car, Bernard held on, and was dragged 35 feet beside the car, eventually falling to the road.

Authorities are crediting the heavy traffic leaving the Aerosmith concert from not allowing Damron to flee the scene.

Damron has been charged with failure to comply with police, possession of drug paraphenila, assault, and OVI.

Damron appeared in a Hamilton County courtroom Saturday morning and was given a total of $25,000 bond. He remains in the Hamilton County Jail.
