CINCINNATI - The anchor of the Bengals defensive line was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week Thursday.

Defensive tackle Geno Atkins was honored following a two-sack performance during the playoff-clinching win at Pittsburgh Sunday. His 12 1/2 sacks lead the team and he leads all NFL interior defensive linemen in sacks.

Atkins’ 12 1/2 sacks is also a team record.

Atkins was also named to the AFC roster for the Pro Bowl this week for the second time in his career. This year, however, will be his first time as a first-team selection.

The Bengals will finish the season Sunday, Dec. 30, against the AFC North champion Baltimore Ravens at Paul Brown Stadium.
