LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - A grand jury will hear the case against former University of Kentucky basketball player Michael James Porter, who was arrested last month on charges of felony sodomy and having sex with an underage girl.

The 25-year-old Porter has pleaded not guilty. A judge ordered the case to the panel at a hearing in Lexington on Monday. No testimony occurred during the hearing.

The Lexington Herald-Leader reported that Porter declined comment.

Court documents state Porter met the girl while serving as a group leader during a church function.

Porter played at Kentucky for three seasons, from 2006-2009, but left in his junior year to spend more time with his wife and child. During his last year, he played in 36 games, averaging 4.1 points and 2.5 assists per game.
