Expect security changes at Bengals games

CINCINNATI - The Bengals are taking on the New York Jets at Paul Brown Stadium in their pre-season opener Friday.

If you're going to the game, the way you enter the stadium is going to be different this season.

You won't be "patted down" when you enter the plaza, and you can say goodbye to the gender specific lines.

Fans will now be screened with a magnetic want that can detect any metal brought into the stadium. You're asked to have your keys, phones and any other metal items in your hands during the screening process.

Security personnel will conduct the wanding at all entrances to the plaza of the stadium.

“We’re optimistic that as fans get accustomed to this procedure, it will result in less time in line and smaller crowds at the gate prior to kickoff,” said Bob Bedinghaus, Bengals director of business development. “And as always, we encourage fans to give themselves a little extra time when planning their arrival.”

The revised security procedures are mandated by the NFL Best Practices for Stadium Security in hopes of increasing security and becoming more convenient for fans.

The new screening process will be in effect for all Bengals home games this season.

Friday's game starts at 7:30 p.m. at Paul Brown Stadium.
