CINCINNATI (AP) -- Kicker Josh Brown signed with the Bengals hoping to earn another chance in the NFL. A strong first game was a good first step.
Brown made all of his four field goal tries, including a 52-yarder, during a 20-19 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.
The Bengals needed a kicker on short notice when Mike Nugent hurt his right calf during practice last week. They signed Brown, who had been out of the league since the Jets released him at the end of training camp.
Brown spent nine years with Seattle and St. Louis. He spent the last three months keeping his leg in shape by kicking on any field he could find, waiting for another kicker to get hurt or get released.
