CINCINNATI - Reds’ first baseman Joey Votto is rounding third and heading for home in the social media competition to become the face of Major League Baseball — and fans can help him walk away with a win.
MLB.com has set up a bracket for fans to vote for the “ Face of the MLB ” and the Reds’ Votto in the finals against Los Angeles Dodgers’ Matt Kemp. Votto breezed past Minnesota Twins’ Joe Mauer, Toronto Blue Jays’ Jose Bautista, the Yankee’s Derek Jeter and the Pirates’ Andrew McCutchen to make it to the finals.
Fans can help No. 19 edge out Kemp by voting on Twitter through the week. Voting ends at 6:30 a.m. Friday and the winner will be announced at 9 a.m. To cast your vote through Twitter, use the hashtag " #JoeyVotto" in as many tweets as you like, even if they’re unrelated. Careful though, you can only use the hashtag once per tweet or it will be considered as spam.
Each tweet that includes "#JoeyVotto" counts as a vote for the Golden Glove Award recipient. Each retweet counts in the voting tally as well, so if you see the hashtag among your Twitter buddies, be sure to retweet it.
