Midway through the second period, WV's Matt Hargett picked up a loose ball and dunked it to go up 25-20.  Then the Braves went on a 4-0 run. GC then had the ball to extend the run,  But WV's Tanner Moeves grabbed what would look like a huge opportunity for a four point play.

Moeves stole the ball and was about to score when GC's Austin Johnson went to defend what looked like a shot attempt, instead Johnson was called for an intentional foul.  Moeves missed both free throws and WV did not convert after the inbounds pass.  The score stayed 25-24 at the intermission.

Grant County head coach Jim Hicks did not see the call, but expressed his opinion, "It is what it is.  The basketball angel looked out for us," Hicks said laughingly.  "We tell our kids, 'Officiating is uncontrollable.' I thought the officials let both teams play."

When the teams came out in the second half, Grant County went on an 11 point run to take a double digit lead, 35-25.  But the Bearcats went on an 11 point run of its own to regain the lead.  The game played out like this to the end with Grant County upsetting the visiting team.

The Braves senior guard Trevor Hunt led all scoring with a double-double, he had 21 points and 10 boards and sophomore guard Tyler Carr added 16 points.

"They beat us three times in a row and we beat them tonight," said Hunt.  "[It's} definitely an upset.  We proved everybody wrong."

The Braves will host the number one seeded Simon Kenton Pioneers Friday night at Grant County High School.
