GBK: Walton-Verona cruises past Williamstown

DRY RIDGE, Ky. - The Lady Bearcats pounced on the Demons early by putting on a 3-point shooting clinic.  Four players drained five shots from beyond the arc to lead 19-11 at the first break.  

Molly Clinkenbeard made two from the perimeter in the first quarter and finished with 10 points.  She sat out the second half.  Teammate Katie Slavey finished with 11 points, nine came from outside the arc, and Kara Taulbee hit four 3-pointers shots and led all scoring with 17 points.

Williamstown made four 3-point shots, Rachel Montgomery hit three of them and finished with 11 points for the night and teammate Susan Northcutt also had 11 points.

The Lady Bearcats (25-6)will move on the to the championship round on Thursday night against Simon Kenton (20-9).  Both teams get  an automatic birth into the Region 8 tournament, which they won last year.
