Coming off a bye week a well-rested Highlands Bluebirds squad took care of business on the road in Louisville beating the Western Warriors, 51-23.
Highlands (3-0) only led 10-8 midway twenty minutes into the game, but exploded with a 20-point second quarter to take control for good.
Senior Donovan McCoy continued to dazzle with both his arm and his feet. The dual-threat quarterback finished the night with 256 yards and three touchdowns on 16-of-35 passing and rushed for two more scores and additional 94 yards on 11 carries.
Zach Harris scored twice on the ground, including the game’s first touchdown on a 2-yard plunge. The junior racked up 84 yards on 11 carries.
Highlands returns up next week for a final tuneup against Mason County before starting district play the following week versus CovCath.
