CINCINNATI - The Scott County (12-1) ground game ran down hill all night long as they beat Simon Kenton to win their fifth straight regional title.

The Cardinals used their big front lines to pound the football on offense and see the defense hold their fifth straight opponent to 10 points or fewer.

Quarterback Clay McKee’s first of two touchdown passes gave Scott County an early 13-0 lead. The Pioneers got on the board with a 33-yard field goal by Tyler Smith to make it 13-3 Cardinals. Scott County scored once more to take a 20-3 lead into halftime.

The Cardinals reeled off 27 unanswered points to make it 40-3. The Pioneers got a consolation score late on a 67-yard touchdown run by Andrew Sampson. It was the senior’s 15th rushing score of the year.

As heartbreaking as the loss was for Simon Kenton the program won at least nine games for the fourth time in the last five years.
