Tri-State high school football N.Ky. rankings: Week 9

The cream has risen to the top in Northern Kentucky as the post-season nears. The only shakeup in the top 10 this week came with Campbell County moving into the top five following them clinching the Class 6A, District 6 title with an impressive victory over Ryle.

The Camels move up to fifth in our latest rankings as Simon Kenton dropped to sixth after they fell at Dixie Heights.

Here are the latest TriStateFootball.com Northern Kentucky Rankings:

1. Highlands (8-0)
How they fared: The Bluebirds finished out district play with a perfect mark by beating Holmes 57-28.
Looking Ahead: Highlands welcomes a red-hot Elder team to David Cecil Memorial Field.

2. CovCath (6-2)
How they fared: CovCath has outscored their past two opponents 131-0 to move to 3-0 inside district
Looking Ahead: The Colonels head to Covington to meet an improved Holmes' squad.

3. Cooper (7-1)
How they fared: The Jaguars enjoyed their bye week and rested up for a late-season surge.
Looking Ahead: Cooper plays host to Grant County to round out their district schedule.

4. Conner (6-2)
How they fared: Conner picked up their third straight victory cruising past Grant County, 42-6.
Looking Ahead: The Cougars make a trip to Scott as they hope to keep their district title hopes alive.

5. Campbell County (5-3)
How they fared: The Camels laid claim to their second consecutive district title with a win over Ryle.
Looking Ahead: Boone County pays a visit to Bob Miller Stadium in a revenge game of sorts for the Camels.

6. Simon Kenton (7-2)
How they fared: Simon Kenton was upset on the road by a young and surging Dixie Heights squad.
Looking Ahead: The Pioneers take a week off before their regular-season finale at Scott County (10/26).

7. Ryle (3-5)
How they fared: The Raiders dropped their third game in four weeks, falling at Campbell County.
Looking Ahead: Ryle welcomes Dixie Heights to Borland Stadium to round their district schedule.

8. Holmes (5-3)
How they fared: The Bulldogs were overmatched against Highlands, snapping a three-game winning streak.
Looking Ahead: Holmes faces another massive challenge as they play host to CovCath.

9. NewCath (4-4)
How they fared: The Firemen's Bell goes to NewCath after they dismantled Newport 49-0 with ease.
Looking Ahead: NCC can claim district title with a win over Holy Cross on Thursday night.

10. Walton-Verona (6-2)
How they fared: Walton-Verona picked up their fourth straight win by scoring a season-best 62 points.
Looking Ahead: Bishop Brossart pays a visit for Senior Night at Walton-Verona.
