Bishop Brossart senior running back Jacob Elbert was voted the Meijer High School Football Player of the Week for Week 1, picking up 896 votes (21 percent). 

The Mustangs running back earned his nomination by exploding for 429 yards and five touchdowns on 29 carries in a win over Middletown Christian. 

St. Xavier’s Nick Tensing and Dylan Huff of Bellevue finished second and third in the voting conducted by TriStateFootball.com . In total, 13 players were nominated with 4,276 votes casted. 

Voting will open on Monday morning for Week 2’s nominations.
