COVINGTON, Ky. - The John A. Roebling Bridge reopened to traffic at approximately 8:15 p.m. Thursday after crews spent nearly four hours removing sandstone debris that fell from a ledge according to Nancy Woods, public information officer Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 6.

Crews used a lift to inspect the damage to the historic span. That damage was mostly superficial and the bridge is structurally fine, Wood said, but crews wanted to assess the area and make sure no additional debris could break away or be a potential hazard.

KYTC District 6 notified TANK and their services will resume as usual Friday morning.

Crews closed the bridge at approximately 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
