High-Speed Chase Ends In Teen's Crash

ERLANGER, Ky. – High-speed chase lands a 16-year-old into a Vietnam memorial in Erlanger, Ky.

In the early hours of Wednesday, a Florence Police officer observed a car without headlights on driving northbound on Dixie Highway, after pulling out of the Turfside Motel parking lot at 2 a.m.

The officer, at that time, attempted to pull over the driver, a teenager from Elsmere, who was driving a reportedly stolen 2003 Hyundai Elantra, sped away from the police car.

As the suspect entered the Erlanger city limits, with the police car following behind, he attempted to make a left turn on to Commonwealth Avenue.

According to a police statement, the suspect lost control of the car when turning, striking the memorial at the corner of Commonwealth Avenue and Dixie Highway.

There were no injuries sustained in the crash and the suspect was treated at the scene.

At this time, alcohol is not considered a factor in this collision.

The teen is facing multiple charges including receiving stolen property and fleeing and evading a police officer.
