A Northern Kentucky man and former day care owner is facing federal charges of possessing child pornography.
Fred Aureden is charged with possessing and advertising child pornography.
Aureden turned himself into authorities Tuesday night.
He's charged with possession and advertising child pornography.
According to the US Attorney's Office, Aureden advertised and possessed an array of photos and video files depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
Court documents state a search warrant was served at his Lakeside Park home in Kenton County back in 2008 where computers and equipment were seized.
Up until January of 2009, Aureden and his wife Catherine were listed as co-owners of the Crescent Springs Early Learning Center.
In 2009, the ownership was changed to just her name.
Aureden's attorney says the charges are not related in any way related to the day care center.
"I want to articulate that there are no factual indications or allegations whatsoever connecting these daycare to any abuse of any child nor are there any allegations or investigations that indicate whatsoever that any individual child was harmed by anyone. There is no connection with the daycare," said Shannon Sexton, Fred Aureden's Attorney.
Kentucky's Cabinet of Health and Family Services is conducting a separate investigation since the state license's the day care facility.
If convicted Aureden faces up to 15 years in prison.
Aureden is currently being held at the Boone County jail.
He will face a judge in federal court on Thursday.
