RICHWOOD, Ky. – A southbound Norfolk Southern railroad train collided with a tractor-trailer on Wednesday just after 3 p.m.

The Zis Transport truck out of Independence, which was hauling muffin batter, was hit on Shoreland Drive near intersection at U.S. 25 (Dixie Highway) in Richwood.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Department said that Babic Smail, 40, of Dubuque, Iowa, was driving the semi on Shoreland Drive and had just crossed over the railroad tracks when he stopped near the intersection of Dixie Highway, leaving the rear part of the trailer blocking the tracks.

The train engine ripped the rear of the trailer off. There are no reported injuries at the time of this report.
