FORT WRIGHT, Ky. -- Two Northern Kentucky men face burglary charges after an off-duty Fort Wright police officer spotted the two acting suspiciously Thursday and called in for help from his on-duty fellow officers.

Daniel L. Skinner, 25, of Edgewood and Daniel E. Hoppenjans, 25, of Bellevue are charged with second degree burglary after the two allegedly broke into a residence in 1900 block of Mount Vernon Drive.

Fort Wright Police Sgt. Randy Newsom saw the two acting suspiciously at about 12:30 p.m. Thursday in green and blue Pontiac at Oak Hill Court and Mount Vernon and notified on-duty officers, according to a police report.

Police responded and apprehended the two. Upon investigation officers discovered a burglary had taken place at a nearby residence where a small basement window had been broken to gain access. Officers recovered property from the two suspects that they believe was stolen.

Officers believe the two and possibly others may have been involved in other similar burglaries in Fort Wright, Edgewood, Boone County and elsewhere in which cash, jewelry and small electronics were taken from residences.

Anyone who has information about these suspects or other possible burglaries is asked to contact Fort Wright Police Detective Travis Brown at (859) 331-2191 or via e-mail at tbrown@fortwright.com.
