Doug Wright, Commonwealth Attorney for Pendleton County, was killed after an on-coming truck crossed into his lane.
Attorney Eric Deters has issued a statement of Dan Gabbard and the death of Pendleton County Prosecutor, Doug Wright.

Gabbard was charged on Tuesday for the crash that killed Wright. He is charged with wanton murder and operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

Visitation services will be held Thursday evening from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. for Doug Wright at Trinity Southern Baptist Church in Falmouth. The funeral will be held at the same church on Friday afternoon.

Eric Deters issued the following statement Thursday morning.

I've been retained by Dan Gabbard, known as Keith, and his family. Dan and his family would like to express sincere sympathy and regret to Doug Wright's wife, children, family, friends and community. Doug's death is a terrible loss. Words of sympathy and regret from Dan and his family will ring hollow to many of those close to Doug, but they are sincere.

Dan is one of twelve children and he along with seven of his siblings are preachers. You can learn more about the family at the gabbards.com. They run two churches and a ministry. Dan was also an independent truck driver.

As Dan's attorney, I'll first go through the process of finding out all the facts. To that end, the initial plea will be not guilty to give us time to do that. The final plea will be based upon the facts.

Dan has waived extradition this morning to go back to Kentucky. There are always factual and legal issues to evaluate. We will assess all those as we work with the special prosecutor.
