Bellevue High School's faithful have wished for a little nip, tuck and possibly a full body lift for the school's Gilligan Stadium.

Bellevue's stadium was among 30 across the country that won a contest to for a makeover of school stadiums. The contest, sponsored by frostedflakes.com, aimed to rebuild America’s playing fields so that, according to the Frosted Flakes' Web site, “every kid has a place to be active.”

The top 30 schools were chosen through of combination of online voting that was open to the public and a panel of judges, according to Susanne Norwitz, director of brand public relations for Kellogg Company.

Wills expressed his gratitude the two parents who took the initiative to sign up for the contest.

“Obviously in this time (the renovation) means an awful lot,” he said. “I’m delighted to get the (help).”

Wills said the sense of community pride is what made Bellevue High School stand out in the competition.

“A lot of our opponents and teams also helped us by responding and voting for Bellevue," Wills said.

He added that the renovations will mean a lot to the students, parents, faculty and the community.

“Will it boost the pride of our student body? Absolutely,” Wills said. “Especially if they see a tangible result.”

He said is pleased with the response of parents, students and the community had towards the competition and the possibility of winning.

“That’s what makes (Bellevue) unique,” he said.
