Boone County voters said ‘No’ to increased taxes to fund the county’s parks.
One of the heated issues that faced Boone County voters Tuesday was a referendum calling for a tax increase for parks.
An overwhelming 67 percent of voters turned down the tax proposal, with 15,303 voters saying ‘No.’
The referendum called for 2.2 cents per $100 assessed property tax.
That’s around $3 a month for a home valued at $175,000.
Since Boone County is one of the fastest growing counties in the Commonwealth, the money generated from the tax would have supported existing parks and go towards the building of new ones like a soccer park along KY 8.
