(AP) – A night on the town in Cincinnati soon could mean dinner over the Ohio River on a former railroad trestle that's now a pedestrian bridge.
A group called Bridge for a Cause plans to offer live entertainment, a bar and food catered from a nearby restaurant four nights a week on the span, known as the Purple People Bridge because of its paint job.
The group hopes to draw 250,000 people this summer and raise $100,000 for charities. Tents, bars, stages and tables are being set up for the grand opening Friday.
Owners of the bridge between Cincinnati and Newport, Ky., have considered a permanent dining facility, but that would require running water and would be subject to many regulations.
