Road crews are at work across Northern Kentucky this week and motorists are urged by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 6 to use caution in work areas.
Striping will be under way daily in Grant County, possibly moving into Owen County by week’s end and nightly in Campbell County throughout the week. Contractors will be placing traffic paint on various roads throughout these counties. Expect minor delays on roads where work is being done.
Additionally, motorist should be alert to possible delays or lane closures on the following projects:
Boone CountyAshby Fork Road (CR 1329) – Ashby Fork Road will be closed to through traffic for bridge construction approximately ¾ mile south of the Ashby Fork Road/Petersburg Road (KY 20) intersection. Traffic will be detoured along Petersburg Road (KY 20) and Woolper Road. Ashby Fork Road is scheduled to be reopened by August 10, 2009.
Industrial Road (KY 1829) – As construction continues on this project, please watch for work crews on Industrial Road (KY 1829) from US 42 to Dixie Highway (US 25) and on Dixie Highway (US 25) from New Buffington Road to the railroad crossing south of the Industrial Road/US 25 intersection. Please watch for flaggers and be aware of trucks entering and exiting the highway. The speed limit is reduced to 35 MPH on this project. Please be aware of a traffic diversion in place at the railroad crossing on US 25.
North Bend Road (KY 237) from I-275 to Kara Lane – As construction continues on this project, please watch for work crews along KY 237. Please watch for flaggers and be aware of trucks entering and exiting the highway. Traffic may be periodically stopped through this area to allow equipment to pass. Motorists are advised the speed limit has been reduced to 35 MPH through this area. Left turns are prohibited from KY 237 Southbound at Northside Drive. Expect delays particularly during rush hour periods.
Graves Road - On Monday, June 8th, 2009 Graves Road will be closed to through traffic from Northbend Road to East of Sequoia Drive for the construction of Graves Road. Northbound traffic on Northbend KY 237 will be detoured at Worldwide Blvd. to Graves Road / Sequoia Dr. / Treetop Lane and the Southbound Lane of Northbend KY 237 will be detoured at Treetop Lane to Sequoia Drive / Graves Road / Worldwide Blvd. Graves Road is scheduled to be reopened by June 15, 2009.
Campbell CountyCombs Hehl Bridge/I-275 – On Friday, June 5 beginning at 9:30 AM until 3 PM, crews will be doing a routine bridge inspection. Motorists should be aware of single lane closures during this inspection. Plans are to begin on the WB left lane first and then move to the EB left lane in the afternoon. The inspection will be weather dependent.
KY 2238 Three Mile Creek Road – Three Mile Creek Road (KY 2238) is closed between Johns Hill Road (KY 2345) and Gibson Lane. The road will be closed until the project is completed. A detour is marked, utilizing Johns Hill Road (KY 2345). Watch for construction traffic and trucks entering and leaving the roadway.
Interstate 275 – West Bound – Various lane closures on I-275 WB can be expected during overnight hours. The lane closures may be encountered between the Ohio state line and the AA (Wilder) Exit.
Grant County I-75 (MP 144 – MP 152) – Northbound and Southbound traffic has been restored to the original pattern of two lanes in each direction. The speed limit is reduced to 55 MPH on this project. During daytime working hours, rolling roadblocks may be used for short periods to slow traffic for blasting operations. As Construction continues on this project, please watch for trucks entering and leaving the highway.
Keefer Road (KY 2936) @ I-75 – Traffic has been shifted to this newly re-aligned section of Keefer Road. As work continues through this area, please watch for flaggers and for trucks entering and leaving the highway. Expect minor delays.
Lawrenceville Road (KY 1993) @ I-75 -Traffic has been shifted to the newly re-aligned section of Lawrenceville Road bridge as work continues through this area, please watch for flaggers and for trucks entering and leaving the highway. Expect minor delays.
Sipple Road (KY 2947) @ I-75 - Traffic has been shifted to the newly re-aligned section of Mason Sipple Road bridge over I-75, please watch for flaggers and for trucks entering and leaving the highway. Expect minor delays.
Harrison CountyCR 1223 Twin Creek Road – Twin Creek Road will be closed to through traffic one mile southwest of the junction with KY 356 beginning the week of June 8th due to bridge replacement over Twin Creek. Look for variable message boards and signs for closure. The road will be closed for approximately 4 months.
Kenton CountyKY 1072 -- Sleepy Hollow Rd. – Work will continue on KY 1072 between US 27 and KY 8. Watch for construction traffic and flaggers.
KY 1930 -- Locust Pike and Whites Rd. – Work will begin on KY 1930 between KY 177 and KY 177. Watch for construction traffic and flaggers.
KY 16 -- Taylor Mill Rd. – Work will begin on KY 16 between Old Taylor Mill Rd. and Sunrise Avenue. Watch for construction traffic and flaggers.
KY 17 -- 3L Highway – Work continues on KY 17, 3L Highway, near Pioneer Park. Various lane closures are possible. Watch for construction traffic entering and leaving the work zone. Motorists should expect delays. The speed limit will be reduced to 45 MPH during the project.
KY 371 Buttermilk Pike – The right southbound lane of KY 371 will be closed between Anderson Road and High Street. The right southbound lane of KY 371 north of Anderson Road will be marked as “right turn only”. Expect delays. If possible, motorists are advised to use alternate routes.
Owen County KY 22 - Gratz Bridge (approximately at the 6 mile marker) – The Gratz Bridge replacement project has begun. Clearing and grubbing is the only operation taking place this week. Blasting may begin next week with hauling blasted material beginning soon after. Traffic is allowed during daylight hours but is not allowed from 6:30 AM to 8:30 AM and from 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM. There will be some one way traffic during these operations.
Pendleton County
Carter’s Chapel Road (CR 1318) Closure at Rogers Road – The Carter’s Chapel Bridge Replacement over Seller’s Branch has begun. The roadway will be closed to through traffic to start bridge replacement. Detour routes are posted at Gardnersville-Portland Road (KY 491) to the south and on Gardnersville Road to the north. Traffic will be detoured onto Rogers Road. The road will be closed a maximum of 180 days.
