If you still haven’t put up your Christmas tree, don’t worry. The Ky. Christmas Tree Association’s Web site is ready to guide you to a nearby tree farm.
The KCTA’s site lists 22 Christmas tree farms in Kentucky.
In fact, there are three in Northern Kentucky: Tug Tree Farm and Evergreen Junction both in Alexandria, and Ferguson Tree Farm in Union.
Stuart Ferguson, owner of Ferguson Tree Farm said that he loves trees and the Web site helps him sell what he loves to do.
“I truly love trees of all kinds. I really like growing trees, and getting paid for doing it is a plus,” he said. “The Web site is the best way to communicate with your customers.”
Most of the state’s Christmas tree farms are located in central Kentucky. But they can also be found as far west as Owensboro, as far south as Bowling Green, and as far east as Wallingford, Ky., near Flemingsburg.
“If you’ve never visited a Kentucky Christmas tree farm, put on your coat and head for one near you,” Agriculture Commissioner Richie Farmer said. “I encourage you to take your family to select and cut a fresh, homegrown Christmas tree nurtured by hard-working Kentucky farmers.”
To locate the nearest tree farm on the Web site, select “Find a Farm” from the menu. Each farm is designated on a map by a Christmas tree icon. Just click on each Christmas tree for the name and location of the farm, along with a link to its Web site.
“The Web site makes it easier for consumers to find Christmas tree farms in their area,” said Ted Sloan, spokesman for the Kentucky Department of Agriculture.
“If people use it to find Christmas tree farms, it should generate business for Christmas tree growers.”
The site includes photos and descriptions of 11 common types of Christmas trees, as well as information about growing the trees.
