RICHMOND, Ky. (AP) - Eastern Kentucky University has frozen salaries for next academic year.
An e-mail from President Doug Whitlock tells members of EKU's faculty and staff that a four percent tuition increase and a two percent budget cut will only pay for unavoidable cost increases.
The Lexington Herald-Leader quotes Whitlock's memo asking employees to understand "the realities of the economy's impact" on the university in Richmond.
Whitlock wrote that he's unaware of any Kentucky university that plans to increase base salaries next year.
EKU has 2,200 full-time employees.
