An Elsmere police officer pulled a man off railroad tracks within seconds before a train passed by at 50 mph.

Last Sunday morning, a woman walking her dog spotted the man passed out on the tracks located below the Garvey Avenue overpass in Elsmere.

Officer Tony Embry, a 28-year police veteran, responded with only seconds to spare.

"I didn't know if he was trying to harm himself, if he had a weapon, or if he would try and resist me or try and pull me in so I pulled him off the track and held him down and just as I did that the train went by. It was a matter of seconds at best," said Embry.

Officer Embry arrested Michael Fausz of Elsmere for the misdemeanor charge of criminal trespassing.

Police say he was under the influence of alcohol.
