Entomologist confirmed Northern Kentucky’s first cases of Emerald Ash Borer.
The tree killing insect was found in traps setup in ash trees in Covington and Crescent Springs. Last year, Emerald Ash Borer was found in Hamilton, Clermont and Butler Counties in Ohio.
Northern Kentucky officials started putting traps up last summer.
Ash trees die after the insects lay eggs in them. Any ash trees within a 15 mile radius of an infestation could be at risk, according to Andrea Dee, Kenton County Extension Horticulture Agent.
