LOVELAND, Ohio -- A Marine Captain who died this week in Afghanistan will be remembered in several ways Friday night when his alma mater Loveland High School plays against Milford.
Loveland's players will be wearing a special sticker on their helmets bearing the number 30, which was Captain David "Seth" Mitchell's number in high school when he played for the Tigers.
Meg Krsacok, spokesperson for Loveland Schools, also says an additional sticker will bear the Marine Corps logo.
There will also be a moment of silence before the game in Milford, and plans are still made to put a picture of Mitchell on a video board at the school, Krsacok says.
Mitchell was inside a helicopter that collided with another helicopter Monday in Helmand Province.
Mitchell graduated from Loveland in 1997. His teachers say he always wanted to be a pilot. He realized his dreams after attending Virginia Tech and joining the Marines where he became a pilot.
Mitchell was assigned to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 367, Marine Aircraft Group 39, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, I Marine Expeditionary Force, based out of Camp Pendleton, California.
His parents have since move from Loveland and reside in North Carolina.
